Meet Our Minister
“The world stands on three things – on study, on service, and on kind deeds”
Pirkei Avot Ch.1 Mishnah 2-3:
Belper Unitarians are delighted to embark on a journey with Rev. Kieren Mardle-Moss, whose ministry with us formally started in October 2025 following a successful 12-month student pastorate with us.
Kieren blends an open, inclusive, broad-brush spirituality alongside deep pastoral care and stewardship. Kieren brings over a decade of experience in theology, alongside a professional background in teaching and more recently finance, in which he continues to work alongside his ministry.
Kieren’s journey into ministry itself reflects a lifelong commitment to open-minded faith, inclusive community, and the search for meaning in the world as it is. Trained through the Unitarian College and Luther King Theological College, Kieren joined the General Assembly of Unitarian and Free Christian Churches Roll of Ministers in 2025.
Alongside his ministry in Belper, Kieren also serves as Finance Director of The Inquirer, which is the national Unitarian magazine. This dual role within the movement reflects his passion and ability to unite spirituality with disciplined stewardship, ensuring both vibrancy and sustainability.
Kieren’s leadership is shaped by inspiration from figures such as St Francis and Ralph Waldo Emerson, connecting theology with nature and simplicity. His worship is inclusive and participatory, encouraging all who gather not only at Belper Chapel but also in the wider community beyond the chapel walls to bring their own insights, questions, and experiences into the shared journey.
The values of freedom of conscience, compassion in action, and a living spirituality that sparks heart, mind, and soul are things Kieren holds dear, whether through worship, meditation, community, or pastoral care.
When not supporting chapel activities or at his other job, Kieren loves watching anything and everything Disney or Dr Who related and spends his downtime with his husband Ben and Pepsi, their Jack Russell.
